Conquest Mo Money at Pimlico prior to the Preakness
Seventh-place Preakness Stakes (G1) finisher Conquest Mo Money, who was pointing for a start in the June 10 Woody Stephens Stakes (G2) at Belmont Park, sustained a suspensory injury June 2 and will likely miss the race, Judge Lanier Racing's Tom McKenna said.
McKenna said the graded stakes-placed Uncle Mo colt breezed Friday morning at Fair Hill Training Center, came back to the barn in good order, but had swelling later in the afternoon.
"It's doubtful he'll run," said McKenna, who also indicated Conquest Mo Money could head back to New Mexico, where he won the first three races of his career, for further evaluation.
After he won the Riley Allison Stakes and Mine That Bird Derby at Sunland Park early in the year, Conquest Mo Money earned enough points to run in the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (G1) via second-place runs in the Sunland Derby (G3) and Arkansas Derby (G1), but his connections opted to bypass the Run for the Roses to try the Preakness Stakes (G1) instead.
At Pimlico Race Course Conquest Mo Money was never seriously involved and raced in fifth early before he came in 6 1/2 lengths behind winner Cloud Computing.
The Miguel Hernandez-trained colt was initially under consideration to run in the Belmont Stakes (G1), but his connections announced June 1 that they would run in the Woody Stephens instead.
