Arrogate works at Santa Anita Park
Juddmonte Farms' Arrogate got back to work June 6 at Santa Anita Park, where he put in his first timed breeze since his victory in the March 25 Dubai World Cup Sponsored By Emirates Airline (G1).
The 4-year-old Unbridled's Song colt covered three furlongs in :36 1/5 Tuesday under exercise rider Dana Barnes. The four-time grade/group 1 winner and North America's all-time leading Thoroughbred money earner ran the first quarter in :24 flat and galloped out to a half-mile in :49 1/5 under the watchful eye of trainer Bob Baffert.
"It was just maintenance," Baffert said. "He looked good and was reaching out nice. From here on he'll go a half. He gets ready pretty quick."
The colt will likely return to racing in the TVG San Diego Handicap (G2) July 22 at Del Mar, which will serve as a prep for the Aug. 19 TVG Pacific Classic (G1). The San Diego would be Arrogate's first non-grade 1 race since he won an optional-claiming allowance at Del Mar last August. He then won the Travers Stakes (G1), Breeders' Cup Classic (G1), and Pegasus World Cup Invitational Stakes (G1).

Baffert took his time getting Arrogate back into serious training because the colt dropped weight after his trip back to Southern California from Dubai. Once the gray's flesh began to round into proper form again, the Hall of Fame trainer proceeded with his conditioning.
"I could just tell, his muscle tone wasn't there," Baffert said. "He was just light all over—his back, his withers. But he's much better now."
