After grabbing the top two positions in last year's Jaipur Invitational Stakes (G3T), Patricia Generazio homebreds Pure Sensation and Disco Partner are back for another edition of the turf sprint June 10 at Belmont Park.
Pure Sensation enters this year's $300,000 race off a fourth-place finish in the TwinSpires Turf Sprint Stakes (G3T) May 5 at Churchill Downs. That five-furlong test marked the seasonal debut for the 6-year-old son of Zensational, who will stretch out to six furlongs in the Jaipur for trainer Christophe Clement.
Last year Pure Sensation sizzled through an opening quarter-mile in :21.64 in the Jaipur and then just held off Disco Partner to win by a neck. That score started a three-race win streak that included victories in the Parx Dash Stakes (G3T) and Belmont Turf Sprint Invitational Stakes.
Pure Sensation is the 3-1 favorite in the field of 10.
Disco Partner, also trained by Clement, enters Saturday's test off a 1 3/4-length victory in the Elusive Quality Stakes. The two-time stakes winner, a 5-year-old son of Disco Rico, will take aim at his first graded stakes in Saturday's test.
The field also includes Green Mask, the 7-2 second-choice off his two-length score in the TwinSpires Turf Sprint on the good turf at Churchill Downs. That score marked the first graded stakes win for Abdullah Saeed Almaddah's Green Mask, a 6-year-old son of Mizzen Mast .
