Barretts rescheduled its sixth annual paddock at Del Mar from its original date of Sunday, July 30, to Wednesday, July 26, following that day’s race card.
The under tack preview is scheduled for Monday, July 24, following that day’s morning training.
"Wednesday is a short race day with eight races, and having the preview on a dark day allows unraced sales entries to be showcased at a time convenient for both buyers and trainers," said Barretts sales director Kim Lloyd.
"The date adjustments are part of an evolving process to restructure the sales calendar at DelMar to better serve our buyers, consignors and the California racing industry in the best way possible," Lloyd continued.
According to Barretts, all horses cataloged must be "race ready" and able to work three-eighths of a mile or farther.
Graduates of last year's sale include California Diamond, a stakes winner at the time of his purchase for $125,000. The son of Harbor the Gold won three additional stakes and $337,590 for new owner Rockingham Ranch and was voted champion California-bred 2-year-old colt for 2016.
Barretts said in a release that nominations are recommended by June 9 but entries will be accepted two weeks prior to the sale.
