Tom Amoss Secures 3,000th Training Victory

Trainer Tom Amoss joined an exclusive club of trainers July 30 when he registered the 3,000th victory of his career.
Notching the milestone victory for Amoss was Maggi Moss's Infinity of Humor in Wednesday's second race at Indiana Grand Race Course . Jeremy Rose guided Indiana-bred Infinity of Humor, who enjoyed a clear lead at every point of call and completed the six-furlong starter-allowance race in 1:10.13 on a fast track.
Amoss, 52, becomes the 28th trainer to reach the 3,000-win plateau.
"This is a group accomplishment," Amoss said. "Without a great staff, great owners, and most importantly great athletes to train, it never would have happened and that is not lost on me. I also want to thank Indiana Grand who has always treated me with such hospitality. It shows how much they care about racing with everything they do and for them to go out of their way for me today, I am very humbled."
Last year Amoss completed his top single season, by purse earnings, when he ranked 14th among North American-based trainers with earnings of $6,421,792. His horses won at a 31% rate, which ranked best of the 75 top trainers by earnings. He was seventh in wins last year with 192.
This year Amoss currently ranks 17th in earnings at more than $3.2 million and his horses are winning at a 35% rate. Amoss leads the current Indiana Grand meet in earnings ($622,696) and wins (31). He has secured three straight training titles at the former Indiana Downs.
Amoss' most accomplished horse is Heritage of Gold, who won seven graded stakes including the Apple Blossom Handicap (gr. I) at Oaklawn Park and the Go for Wand Handicap (gr. I) at Aqueduct Racetrack, both in 2000. In 2014, Amoss boasts graded stakes winners Delaunay and Grand Contender.
