I'm Corfu wins a June 13 maiden race at Presque Isle Downs

Florida-based freshman sire Corfu picked up his first winner June 13 when I'm Corfu delivered a front-running victory in a five-furlong race on the all-weather track at Presque Isle Downs

Corfu stands for $3,000 at John and Leslie Malone's Bridlewood Farm in Ocala, Fla. I'm Corfu is his first starter from 29 2-year-olds in his first crop.

At age 2 Corfu scored a grade 2 victory in the 2013 Saratoga Special Stakes at Saratoga Race Course. Campaigned by the Coolmore-associated connections of Michael Tabor, Derrick Smith, and Susan Magnier and trained by Todd Pletcher, Corfu also placed second in the Futurity Stakes (G2) that year at Belmont Park.

A 6-year-old son of Malibu Moon  , Corfu is out of winning Forest Wildcat mare Fashion Cat, a half sister to multiple grade 1 winner Peace Rules. Fashion Cat also has produced stakes-placed winner Runway Ready, by Mr. Greeley.

In Tuesday's race, I'm Corfu was sent off the 1-2 favorite in an entry that included runner-up Chateau. I'm Corfu completed the five furlongs in :58.19 for owner-trainer Wayne Rice to secure victory in his fourth career start. I'm Corfu was bred in Florida by Donna Burnham.
