Jockey Paco Lopez was sent to the hospital and taken off all his mounts at Monmouth Park June 17, after he was kicked by a horse in the paddock prior to the running of the first race.

"He was hit on his right side," said Dr. Angelo Chinnici, medical director at Monmouth. "I sent him (to the hospital) as a precautionary measure, to ensure there was nothing more than a superficial wound."

Lopez, who is expected back in action June 18, was about to board his mount Lipman when the incident happened. A first-time starter for trainer Kelly Breen, Lipman won Saturday's opener under Antonio Gallardo.
