Feisty Embrace is the first winner for freshman sire Brethren

Freshman sire Brethren   picked up his first winner June 16 at Evangeline Downs, where his daughter Feisty Embrace captured a five-furlong maiden special weight in the day's first race. The filly finished the distance in 1:00:02. 

Brethren, a half brother to Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (G1) winner Super Saver  , stands for an advertised fee of $6,000 at Pleasant Acres Stallions near Morriston, Fla. Feisty Embrace is one of nine starters in the son of Distorted Humor  's first crop.

Campaigned by WinStar Farm and Winchell Thoroughbreds, Brethren won his first three career starts including the 2011 Sam F. Davis Stakes (G3). Out of the A.P. Indy mare Supercharger, Brethren retired with five wins from 18 starts, and $386,465 in earnings. 

Feisty Embrace, who made her second start Friday, is owned by her breeder Matalona Thoroughbreds and trained by Al Stall Jr. and is out of the unraced Langfuhr   mare Appalachianna.

Brethren stands at Pleasant Acres Stallions, along with Amira's Prince, Anthony's Cross  , Beau Choix  , Csaba  , Handsome Mike  , Poseidon's Warrior  , Prayer for Relief  , Ride on Curlin  , and Treasure Beach at the 220-acre farm located just northwest of Ocala.
