Freshman sire Freedom Child was represented by his first winner June 17, when Maryland-bred Limited View soared clear of her competition in a five-furlong maiden special weight for fillies at Laurel Park.
Trained by John Salzman Jr., who owns the filly in partnership with Fred Wasserloos and George Greenwalt, Limited View led six rivals throughout, and drew off under a hand ride from Hall of Fame jockey Edgar Prado to finish 3 3/4 lengths ahead. She finished the distance in :57.95.
A $5,200 purchase by Salzman from Bill Reightler's consignment to the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic 2016 Eastern fall yearling sale, Limited View was bred by Barbara G. Smith out of the Not For Love mare Loves to Glance.
Freedom Child, by Malibu Moon, won the 2013 Peter Pan Stakes (G2) by 13 1/4 lengths en route to earnings of $170,072 and a 2-1-1 record from eight starts for Spendthrift Farm, West Point Thoroughbreds, St. Elias Stable, and trainer Tom Albertrani. Out of the Deputy Minister mare Bandstand, he entered stud in 2014 at Country Life Farm near Bel Air, Md., for a published fee of $3,000 live foal.
