Arrogate works six furlongs at Santa Anita June 25

Champion Arrogate continued his preparations for the TVG San Diego Handicap (G2) with a six-furlong work in 1:12 2/5 under jockey Martin Garcia June 25 at Santa Anita Park.

Arrogate ran fractions of :24 3/5, :36 2/5, and :48 2/5, with a gallop out to seven furlongs in 1:24 2/5.

An earner of more than $17 million in eight races, Arrogate is expected to make his next start in the July 22 San Diego at Del Mar, which would serve as a prep for the TVG Pacific Classic (G1) Aug. 19.

"He went fast today and was really cruising around," trainer Bob Baffert said of the 4-year-old Unbridled's Song colt owned by Juddmonte Farms. "The San Diego is his (next) race right now. We'll have to see how he's doing, of course, but he'll definitely be leaving for Del Mar (July 15).

"Last year I was going to run him against (California) Chrome in the San Diego. I was going to sneak in there, but he wasn't quite himself—but not really sick—so we didn't run."

As for Collected, who won the previous day's Precisionist Stakes (G3) by 14 lengths, Baffert was duly impressed with the 4-year-old son of City Zip  's overwhelming victory.

BALAN: Collected Dominant Again in Precisionist Stakes

"They're hitting on all cylinders, which is good," Baffert said of his plethora of stakes winners, who have accounted for most of the barn's nearly $19 million in purse earnings this year. "It's fun to have these nice horses. I'd like to breeze Collected on the turf down at Del Mar. He could be a double weapon—turf and dirt."
