Maryland Million Day 2016
Jim McKay Maryland Million Day is set for October 21 at Laurel Park. Celebrated as "Maryland's Day at the Races," the event showcases Maryland's Thoroughbred industry. The 11-race program offers over $1 million in purses and awards. In addition to the exciting day of racing there are other activities for fans and families alike.
"This lucrative day of racing rewards those people who breed, foal and race in Maryland", says executive director, Cricket Goodall, "and we love seeing new fans and our old friends that come out to the event."
This year's Jim McKay Maryland Million Day program includes the following races:

3-year-olds & up, 1 1/8 miles

3-year-olds & up, 1miles, Turf
—$125,000 Maryland Million Ladies
Fillies & mares, 3-year-olds & up, 1 1/8 miles, Turf
—$100,000 Maryland Million Distaff
A handicap for fillies & mares, 3-year-olds & up, 7 furlongs
—$100,000 Maryland Million Sprint
A handicap for 3-year-olds & up, 6 furlongs
—$100,000 Maryland Million Lassie
Fillies, 2-year-olds, 6 furlongs
—$100,000 Maryland Million Nursery
2-year-olds, 6 furlongs
—$60,000 Maryland Million and/or Registered Maryland-Bred Turf Starter Handicap
3-year-olds & up, who have started for a claiming price of $11,000 or less since October 23, 2016, 1 1/8 miles, Turf.
—Maryland Million and/or Registered Maryland-Bred Turf Distaff Starter Handicap $60,000
