Frostmourne is all alone at the finish of the Kent Stakes

Green Lantern Stables' Frostmourne broke through for his first graded win in the June 3 Penn Mile Stakes (G2T) and put in a repeat performance July 15 in the $200,000 Kent Stakes (G3T) at Delaware Park

With the perfect trip in second behind runaway early leader The Tortoise, Frostmourne advanced in the final turn of the 1 1/8-mile grass test, took command as the field turned for home, and cruised to the wire under jockey Joel Rosario to win by six lengths over Master Plan.

Master Plan, who won the Stanton Stakes at Delaware June 10, finished 1 3/4 lengths clear of third-place finisher Adonis Creed.

The Tortoise opened up a five-length lead, with fractions of :24.90 and :48.43 through a half-mile on the Delaware turf rated good, but had his lead cut to two lengths through six furlongs in 1:12.86. Frostmourne took over to run a mile in 1:38.30 and hit the wire in 1:49.95.

"He settled down nicely," Rosario said. "The horse pulled away a little bit, but I took my time and I got into his stride. He relaxed and when I asked he responded."

It was the 3-year-old Speightstown   colt's first back-to-back wins for trainer Christophe Clement. He broke his maiden in his September debut at Saratoga Race Course, finished fourth in the Oct. 1 Pilgrim Stakes (G3T) at Belmont Park, won the Oct. 29 Awad Stakes at Belmont, and came in second in the April 22 Woodhaven Stakes at Aqueduct Racetrack before his Penn Mile victory.

Bred in Kentucky, out of the Theatrical mare Leaning Tower, Frostmourne now has $537,800 in earnings.
