Louisiana Flyboy, Our Quista Take Sale Stakes

Two $150,000 sale stakes run at Louisiana Downs on Louisiana Cup day Aug. 2 were won by 3-year-olds that sold through the Breeders Sales Company at its 2012 yearling sale.

The A.L. "Red" Erwin Stakes for 3-year-old males was won by Robert LaPenta's Louisiana Flyboy, who was ridden by Richard Eramia for trainer Patrick Mouton. The race was run at one mile and 70 yards on dirt after it was moved from the turf course.

Louisiana Flyboy, by Fusaichi Pegasus   out of the More Than Ready   mare Montanis, was bred by Stanley Seelig and sold for $26,000 by Clear Creek Stud, agent.

The Elge Rasberry Stakes for 3-year-old fillies also was moved from the grass to one mile and 70 yards on dirt. It was won by Our Quista, who is owned by Eugenia Thompson and Hickory Stable. The filly was ridden by Eramia for trainer Al Cates.

Our Quista, by Half Ours   out of the Conquistador Cielo mare Quista, was bred by her owners and sold for $5,000 by Summerhill Equine, agent.

The two stakes are written for Louisiana-bred horses that sold as yearlings at a recognized Thoroughbred sale in Louisiana.

The Breeders Sales Company has scheduled its yearling sale for Sept. 23.

Also on the Aug. 2 program, SMR Investments and Bebe Barden's Alamo Heights (by Dunkirk  ) won the $100,000 Super Derby Prelude for 3-year-olds. Eramia rode the winner for trainer Danny Pish.

The $400,000 Super Derby (gr. II) will be run Sept. 6 at Louisiana Downs.
