I was supposed to write a column back on Oct. 1, but something happened in Las Vegas that day which horrified our nation. I was literally numb for a few days. I won’t repeat the details, as I’m pretty sure you know already.
Why this has anything to do with newcomers to horse racing is this — sports can be and has been cathartic to the human spirit in trying to recover.
I see this happening here as we try being “Vegas Strong” and not allowing an act of terrorism to make us afraid of living.
