There once was a talented filly named Tempted, and she exhibited a clear dislike for racing during the spring and summer. It wasn’t that she completely refused to compete or win during those times of year—she would get started every May, regular as clockwork, running in a variety of races and even winning the occasional allowance race—but she could never be bothered to win a stakes race until later in the year, and saved her best running for late summer and fall.
