Tally-Ho Stud's Kodiac (GB) didn't take long to break the single-season record for juvenile winners, getting his 52nd winner when his son Statehood won the 32redsport.com/British Stallion Studs EBF Novice Stakes Nov. 2 at Lingfield in his first start.

The 16-year-old son of Danehill had just tied the single-season record set by the late Sunday Silence in 2004 when his son Overcoming won at Dundalk Nov. 1.

Statehood, bred in Ireland by Patrick Cassidy, is out of the unraced Dubai Destination mare Analysis (GB). He is the mare's first starter and first winner. The colt is raced by Godolphin and trained by Charlie Appleby.

Kodiac is a group 3-placed stakes winner who won four races out of 20 starts. He entered stud at Tally-Ho Stud in 2008 and since sired 409 winners worldwide out of 657 starters. His 2-year-olds win at a 31% rate, and their cumulative earnings of $8,282,020 through Nov. 1 account for 38% of his lifetime progeny earnings.

Kodiac has been gaining a lot of momentum in the market since he stood for €10,000 (US$11,630) in 2014. His yearling average has been enjoying a steady ascent from £64,000 ($84,951) in 2015 to £76,000 ($100,880) in 2016 to £98,000 ($130,082) this year. His stud fee this year was increased to €50,000 ($58,150).
