Daisy wins the Tempted Stakes at Aqueduct Racetrack

Making her second career start and graded stakes debut for Fox Hill Farms and trainer John Servis, Daisy drew off to a 4 3/4-length score in the $150,000 Tempted Stakes (G3) Nov. 3 at Aqueduct Racetrack.

Leaving the gate as the 5-2 second choice from the rail with Kendrick Carmouche aboard, Daisy went to the lead in the field of six 2-year-old fillies. Closely stalked by Oldfashioned Style, Daisy set fractions of :22.83 and :46.39 for the first half-mile.

Separating themselves from the rest of the field at the quarter-pole, Oldfashioned Style challenged the leader, going to the front with six furlongs going in 1:11.18.

Set into a drive at the top of the stretch, Daisy thwarted back the challenge and extended away to the wire to secure the victory. The daughter of Blame  completed the one-mile distance in a final time of 1:37.13.

"John just told me to ride her right out of the gate," Carmouche said. "She broke real sharp. With the inside being a little deep, I just wanted to get outside a little. At the quarter-pole, I hit her and she reacted right away and just leveled off. She responded real good when I asked her at the top of the lane. Thanks to John Servis and Mr. (Rick) Porter, it looks like they have a good one."

Oldfashioned Style was second with Sweet Candy Dance in third. Heavy favorite Navajo was fourth, followed by One Last Cast and Lady Freedom to complete the order of finish.

Daisy returned $7, $4.90, and $5.80 across the board.

Bred in Pennsylvania by Jonathan Sheppard, out of the Flower Alley mare Lovely Stay, Daisy was purchased for $80,000 as a yearling at the 2016 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga select yearling sale. She boosted her career earnings to $127,800 Friday in her first career stakes victory. Now unbeaten in two starts, her victory in the Tempted follows an impressive eight-length win in her Oct. 9 debut at Parx Racing.
