Flaxman Holdings homebred Ulysses has been scratched from the Nov. 4 Longines Breeders' Cup Turf (G1T) because of a minor issue related to his ankle.

Flaxman Holdings racing manager Alan Cooper said Nov. 3 that the 7-2 morning-line favorite for the Turf has "some heat in his fetlock" following his workout Nov. 2 over the Del Mar turf course.

"He had a very nice workout yesterday morning ... but the decision tonight was in the best interest of the horse," Cooper said. "We're all very sorry, especially for the fans, but it was in the best interest of the horse."

The 4-year-old Galileo (IRE) colt trained by Sir Michael Stoute was entering the Turf off a third-place run in the Qatar Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (G1) Oct. 1 at Chantilly. Earlier in the year he won the Juddmonte International Stakes (G1) at York and the Coral Eclipse (G1) at Sandown Park. He also won the Bet365 Gordon Richards Stakes (G3) at Sandown to kick off his 2017 campaign and placed in the King George VI & Queen Elizabeth Stakes (G1) at Ascot.

Ulysses was set to make his second U.S. start, following his fourth-palce run in the Turf last year at Santa Anita Park.
