Hall of Famer Lure Passes at Age 28

Lure at Claiborne Farm

Two-time Breeders' Cup Mile (G1T) winner and Hall of Famer Lure passed away the morning Nov. 15 due to infirmities of old age, Claiborne Farm announced. The son of Danzig was 28.

Bred by Claiborne Farm in partnership with The Gamely Corp and campaigned by the farm along with Nicole Gorman, Lure captured the 1992 and 1993 Breeders' Cup Mile, highlighting a career that saw him win 14 and place second in eight of 25 career starts. The Shug McGaughey-trained runner also took the 1994 Caesars International Handicap (G1T) and retired with  $2,515,289 in earnings. He was inducted into racing's Hall of Fame in 2013.
