Already a three-time stakes winner at Monmouth Park, Pants On Fire will try for a fourth stakes victory in seven career starts at the Oceanport, N.J., track in the $150,000 Philip H. Iselin Stakes (gr. III) Aug. 17.
George and Lori Hall's Pants On Fire enters Sunday's 1 1/8-mile race for 3-year-olds and older off a third-place finish to Iselin entrant Valid in the Monmouth Cup Stakes (gr. II) July 27. That effort marked the first start of the season for Pants On Fire, who is trained by Kelly Breen.
Pants On Fire boasts previous Monmouth stakes victories in the 2013 Monmouth Cup, the 2012 Skip Away Stakes, and the 2011 Pegasus Stakes (gr. III). A stakes win Sunday would give the 6-year-old Jump Start horse Monmouth stakes wins in four straight seasons.
Breen also has entered two other horses for the Halls: grade II winner Bern Identity, an easy winner in the My Frenchman Stakes Aug. 2 on a sloppy Monmouth track, and multiple stakes winner Vegas No Show, who finished sixth in the Monmouth Cup.
Crossed Sabres Farm's Valid secured the first stakes win of his career in the Monmouth Cup, where he dueled with Bradester before prevailing over that rival by a half-length. The 4-year-old Medaglia d'Oro gelding will be stretching out a sixteenth of a mile from that 1 1/16-mile test.
