Sixteen Twitter Accounts to Follow for the Pacific Classic

The 2014 edition of the Grade I, $1-million TVG Pacific Classic at Del Mar is almost here and I can’t wait to see who will come away with the victory and earn a berth into the Breeders’ Cup Classic. Here’s some folks I suggest giving a follow on Twitter to get an inside scoop on the scene at Del Mar and the Pacific Classic.
1. @TVG
TVG is the sponsor of the Grade I, $1,000,000 Pacific Classic. If you can’t be there live on site, watch the race on TVG.
2. @DelMarRacing
Follow along for everything that Del Mar has to offer. I also suggest downloading their mobile app on your iPhone or Android device.
3. @JimRome
Radio and TV personality Jim Rome is part owner of Shared Belief, last year’s champion 2-year-old who is looking to remain undefeated in the Pacific Classic.
4. @Quigleys_Corner
Tom Quigley can be found near the paddock at Del Mar carefully observing the contenders in each race and then tweeting out which horses he likes.
5. @_ZoeMetz
Zoe is a photographer and works with the Del Mar digital media department. She’s also Game On Dude’s biggest fan. We know who she’s cheering for in the Pacific Classic.
6. @AuerHeat
Harris is the managing partner in the Unusual Heat Syndicate and is on the Board of Directors in the California Thoroughbred Breeders Association. Pay attention to those offspring of Unusual Heat running at Del Mar because they run very well on the turf and the Polytrack. Follow Harris and he will probably tweet out those Unusual Heat offspring.

Larry is a bloodstock agent that works closely with trainer Peter Eurton. Larry is a great follow for behind-the-scenes photos of morning training and workouts. He also likes to share his picks.

Cecilia is a racing photographer here in Southern California. Follow her for some great photos of the scene around the track at all the big races.

Matt is working with the Del Mar press box team this summer and is a great follow for news and updates. He’s also been practicing calling the races so maybe one of these days I’ll make him share one of his calls.
10. @MaryEllet
Mary is a pony rider here in Southern California. Her job is to lead one of the contenders in each race through the post parade and warmups. She’s been known to pony multiple winners in one day so maybe we should pay close attention to see which horses she is working with.

Ed covers horse racing for the San Diego Union-Tribune, aka U-T San Diego, a local news outlet here in San Diego. Follow Ed for stories, previews, recaps, and much more.

Marc is a horse owner, handicapper, and Del Mar regular. He’s also blogged with us here at ABR.

Bailey is a San Diego native who grew up going to the races at Del Mar. She works at nearby Vessels Stallion Farm where the stallion Square Eddie resides. Some of those Square Eddie offspring have posted some big wins during this Del Mar meet. Bailey will probably tweet them out so give her a follow.

Matt Amsterdam is the lucky winner of our ABR Ultimate 48 Sweepstakes! He will be joined by three friends for an epic 48-hour trip that will take them to Saratoga for Travers Day and then hop on a plane to be at Del Mar the next day for the Pacific Classic!
