Five Named to Keeneland Advisory Board

Keeneland has elected five individuals from the Lexington community and horse industry to its Advisory Board of Directors.

According to a release, Ian Banwell, Luther Deaton Jr., Pope McLean Jr., Daisy Phipps Pulito, and Bill Shively are new members of the board that meets semi-annually during Keeneland's April and October race meetings.

"We are pleased to welcome our newest board members and appreciate their willingness to serve," Keeneland president and CEO Bill Thomason said in a statement. "They bring a wealth of knowledge and passion for the Thoroughbred industry and will be valuable additions to the board."

Banwell owns St. George Farm in Lexington and he and his wife Caroline are Thoroughbred owners and breeders. Banwell is the CEO and owner of Round Table Investment Management Company.

Deaton is the chairman/president and CEO of Central Bank and Trust Co. in Lexington, sponsor of the Central Bank Ashland Stakes (gr. I). He serves on the Kentucky Economic Development Partnership Board and previously served on the Kentucky Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and the American Bankers Association Board.

McLean is co-owner and business manager for his family's 1,000-acre Crestwood Farm in Lexington. He is a board member and treasurer of the Kentucky Thoroughbred Association/Kentucky Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders.

Phipps, part owner and racing manager of Phipps Stable, is a member of The Jockey Club and serves on the board of directors of the Grayson-Jockey Club Research Foundation, Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association, and National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame.

Shively is the owner of Dixiana Farm in Lexington, which sponsors Keeneland's Dixiana Breeders' Futurity (gr. I). Shively, who is a movie producer, purchased Dixiana Farm in 2004 in 2009 acquired neighboring Domino Stud.
