Regally Ready Back on Turf in More Than Ready

Vinery Stables' Regally Ready, blowout winner of a stakes on the dirt in his last start, is scheduled to return to his best surface Sept. 13 in the $200,000 More Than Ready Mile on the grass at Kentucky Downs.

The More Than Ready is one of four stakes on the Saturday program, which is headed by the $600,000 Kentucky Turf Cup Stakes (gr. IIIT). The other two are each worth $200,000: the Kentucky Downs Ladies Sprint and Kentucky Downs Ladies Turf.

Regally Ready, who captured the 2011 Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint (gr. IT), won the off-the-turf West Virginia Speaker's Cup at one mile and 70 yards at Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack & Resort Aug. 2 for trainer Steve Asmussen and jockey Rosie Napravnik, who has a return call. The 7-year-old More Than Ready   gelding has won four of seven starts this year, and of his 14 career wins, 11 have been on the turf.

Last year at Kentucky Downs, Regally Ready rallied to finish a close fourth in the Kentucky Downs Turf Dash at six furlongs. The More Than Ready will be run around one turn on the sweeping 1 5/16-mile grass course.

In the Ladies Sprint at 6 1/2 furlongs, John Oxley's Sky Treasure is entered off a pair of strong efforts on the grass at Woodbine for trainer Mark Casse. The 4-year-old Sky Mesa   filly, to be ridden by Alan Garcia, finished a strong second behind Ageless in the Royal North Stakes (Can-IIIT) at six furlongs in late July, and then won a 6 1/2-furlong allowance race on the grass.

L. T. B. Inc and Miles Childers' Honey Hues seeks to get back on the winning track in the one-mile Ladies Turf. The 5-year-old Henny Hughes mare, part-owned by trainer Bernie Flint, finished far back in an off-the-turf stakes at Indiana Grand Race Course but previously won the Ellis Park Turf Stakes and the Mint Julep Stakes (gr. IIIT) on grass. Jesus Castanon is named to ride.
