The Jockey Club announced Sept. 11 that two people will be denied all privileges of The American Stud Book permanently and that two others will be denied all privileges of The American Stud Book for five years. All actions become effective Jan. 1, 2015.
The denial of privileges, pursuant to Rule 19 of the Principal Rules and Requirements of The American Stud Book, includes the privilege of registering foals and the privileges of any registration process for any Thoroughbred.
Deborah (aka Devorah) Aikman will be denied privileges permanently for being convicted of charges involving cruelty to horses in 2011, and pleading guilty to charges involving cruelty to horses in 2013, both in Texas.
James W. Houseman will be denied privileges permanently for a 2012 guilty plea to charges involving cruelty to horses in Pennsylvania, and a 2013 Alford guilty plea to charges involving cruelty to horses in Maryland.
Christopher W. Grove will be denied privileges for five years for being determined to have violated applicable racing authority statutes, rules, or regulations relating to substances that have been classified by the Association of Racing Commissioners International as Class 1. The violation occurred at Hollywood Casino At Charles Town Races in 2012.
Kyi W. Lormand will be denied privileges for five years for being determined to have violated applicable racing authority statutes, rules, or regulations relating to substances that have been classified by RCI as Class 1. The violation occurred at Evangeline Downs in 2012.
