The illustrious Stonestreet Farms broodmare band gained two more celebrities Sept. 24 with the announcement that two of their star fillies, My Miss Aurelia and Dreaming of Julia, have been retired.

My Miss Aurelia, champion 2-year-old filly of 2011, captured the Grey Goose Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (gr. I), Frizette Stakes (gr. I), and Adirondack Stakes (gr. II) at 2, but may be best remembered for her gutsy victory as a 3-year-old over Alabama (gr. I) winner Questing in the $1 million Cotillion Stakes (gr. I).

The daughter of Smart Strike  —My Miss Storm Cat, by Sea of Secrets, owned and bred by Stonestreet, also finished second in the 2012 Breeders’ Cup Ladies Classic (gr. I) and was second two years later in the Ballerina Stakes (gr. I) following a 16-month layoff.

My Miss Aurelia was owned in partnership with George Bolton until her final two starts.

Dreaming of Julia, a homebred daughter of A.P. Indy—Dream Rush, by Wild Rush, captured the Frizette Stakes and Meadow Star Stakes at 2 and the Gulfstream Park Oaks (gr. II) at 3, a race which she won by a staggering 21 3/4 lengths. She had not raced since her second-place finish in last year’s Mother Goose Stakes (gr. I).

“My Miss Aurelia and Dreaming of Julia gave Barbara (owner Banke) and her family some wonderfully exciting days and owe us nothing,” said Stonestreet spokesperson Gemma Freeman. “They are back at the farm where they were born. Both are in great shape and will be bred in the spring.”
