Santa Anita Super Saturday Fashion on a Budget

Description:

Super Saturday at Santa Anita Park heralds the beginning of the iconic Los Angeles-area track’s fall meet as well as the major day of prep races for horses hoping to compete in the Breeders’ Cup World Championships on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1.
For ladies planning to head to the Great Race Place, it can also be a fun excuse to get dressed to the nines for a fun day at the track; so I’ve put together four Santa Anita Park-ready looks that won’t leave your purse empty on race day.

The first outfit recalls Santa Anita’s origins with a throwback to old-school Hollywood glamour. The cobalt blue dress is $42 from HK Jeiv Shop, and I added a faux-pearl bracelet ($14, Overstock.com) and a $15 pair of polka-dot wedges from Mix Shuz. Add a ladylike shoulderbag from Charlotte Russe for $19, a pillbox-style fascinator ($15, Etsy) and a retro pair of shades for $9.95 from Freyers. Throw on some scarlet lipstick ($8, NYX Cosmetics) and a matching coat of $8.50 Essie nail liqueur and you’re off to the races for just $131.45!

This look is pretty and femine while still having a little bit of edge – perfect for LA! The crimson eyelet lace dress is from Delia’s and is only $25; I added a pendant tooth necklace (Stella and Dot, $49) and a pair of wedges for $35 from Sheikh Shoes. The wristlet with wooden details is $35 from Relic Montclare and the wrapped leather-band watch is just $19 from Geneva. Top everything off with a cute headpiece for $18 from BCBG and you’re ready to go for $181 from head to toe.

One of the great things about Santa Anita Park is that they have an entire infield area that’s a very laid-back place to watch the races. The look above is perfect for that area! The high-low dress is $24 from Maurices and comes with the on-trend tribal-inspired belt. Add a pair of low cowboy boots ($30, Wet Seal) and a $38 turquoise bag from ModCloth; plus a fab cuff for $24 from Cavenders and a horseshoe necklace for $35 from Max and Chloe. Your final accessory is a great pair of sunglasses (these are $19 from Kensie) and your entire look is ready for $170.

I’m a little obsessed with this green dress from Dorothy Perkins – it’s a beautiful piece and an absolute steal at $59. I added a classic pair of ankle strap pumps from Daily Look for $35, a beautiful Sperry plum-colored bag for $35, a brushed-metal cuff for $33 from Loris Shoes and a fascinator for $33 from Accessorize.com. A pair of classic sunglasses for $30 from Mango completes the look, bringing the entire ensemble to $225. Not too bad and a great way to look amazing and still have money to bet at the track!
