Perhaps the best race of the weekend, the $1-million Jockey Club Gold Cup has attracted some of the best horses in the country to Belmont Park on Sept. 27. Belmont Stakes winner Tonalist leads the 3-year-old contingent against an older group that includes the likes of Grade 1 Whitney Stakes winner Moreno.
All 12 horses in the field have the chance to win a spot in the Breeders’ Cup Classic with a victory in this race, setting the Jockey Club Gold Cup up as a “can’t miss” prep for the Nov. 1 Classic. You can catch the Gold Cup and the Awesome Again Stakes on NBC Sports at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.
