Richard Santulli's Colts Neck Stables kick-started the summer for Fed Biz by delivering the freshman sire's first winner June 30 at Belmont Park.
Market Bubble, a colt out of Empire Maker 's winning daughter Tulipmania, won at first asking in a six-furlong, $62,000 maiden special weight on Belmont's inner turf track. Trained by Alan Goldberg and ridden by Junior Alvarado, the colt broke well and stalked the leaders in third through early fractions of :23.51 and :46.81. A strong deep-stretch kick delivered the win by half a length. The final time was 1:09.90.
Bred in New York by Gallagher's Stud, Market Bubble is the third winner produced by Tulipmania. The colt was sold by Denali Stud at the Fasig-Tipton New York Preferred Yearling Sale to de Meric Stables, which pinhooked him through the Ocala Breeders' Sales March 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale. Agent Charlie Boden bought him at OBS for $375,000.
Fed Biz is a grade 1-placed, grade 2-winning son of the late Giant's Causeway. His six career wins include three in grade 2 stakes. He also finished second in the Awesome Again Stakes (G1) and third in the Frank E. Kilroe Mile Stakes (G1T). After racing from 2 to 5, he was retired with $770,496 in earnings.
Out of the Wild Again black-type winner Spunoutacontrol, Fed Biz stands at WinStar Farm for $10,000.
