Description:

Legendary guitarist Richie Sambora will sing and perform the national anthem for the 2014 Breeders' Cup World Championships at Santa Anita Park Nov. 1 as part of a charity effort for City of Hope.

Airing live on NBC Sports' telecast of the Breeders' Cup, Sambora's performance will provide a fan a race-day experience and a special signed guitar from the lead guitarist for the band Bon Jovi and Hall of Fame songwriter, it was announced Sept. 26.

Giving an edgy, Hollywood twist to the tradition of the pre-race national anthem performance, Sambora's vocal debut at the Breeders' Cup follows his performance of the "Call to the Post" at last year's event.

To celebrate this year's 31st running of the Breeders' Cup World Championships, Sambora has designed a custom handmade Kantor Austrian crystal guitar. He will use it to perform the national anthem before donating it to the lucky CharityBuzz auction winner.

The CharityBuzz auction officially launches Sept. 26 and ends Oct. 14 with all proceeds from the auction being donated to City of Hope, the Breeders' Cup's primary non-profit beneficiary.

The winning bidder will also receive two VIP tickets to the World Championships Oct. 31 and Nov. 1, and have a chance to meet the performer while joining him in the winner's circle for the anthem.
