Garbar Boy wins a maiden claiming race at Gulfstream Park
Grade 1-placed He's Had Enough was represented by his first winner July 8 when Garbar Boy scored a half-length victory in a 7 1/2-furlong maiden claiming race over the Gulfstream Park turf.
Owned by Midwest Thoroughbreds and trained by Armando De La Cerda, the 2-year-old gray or roan gelding broke nicely to settle behind the early pacesetter before driving down the lane to take command in the final sixteenth. Final time for the race was 1:34.01 over a track rated firm.
Garbar Boy debuted June 2 with a sixth-place run in a 4 1/2-furlong maiden special weight on the dirt before switching to grass.
Bred in Florida by Karen J. Silva, Garbar Boy is out of the D'wildcat mare D'fashion and is a half brother to stakes winner Strategic Dreams. Midwest Thoroughbreds purchased him for $40,000 from Stuart Morris' consignment to the Ocala Breeders' Sales October Yearling Sale.
Trained by Doug O'Neill, He's Had Enough placed second in the Grey Goose Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1) at 2 behind champion Shanghai Bobby . The son of Tapit started only once outside North America, finishing off the board in the 2013 U.A.E. Derby Sponsored by The Saeed & Mohammed Al Naboodah Group (G2). He was retired at 4 with $492,910 in earnings.
He's Had Enough entered stud in 2015 at John Sykes' Woodford Thoroughbreds in Florida. His advertised fee for 2018 is $5,000.
