My Miss Tapit (Hip 485), a stakes-winning, grade 2-placed Tapit filly consigned by ELiTE, became the sale-topper at the Fasig-Tipton Selected Horses of Racing Age Sale when she was bought by Breeze Easy for $700,000.
Described by ELiTE's Bradley Weisbord as "a gorgeous physical with a big family, and proven runner in career-best form," the 4-year-old My Miss Tapit was produced from the grade 3 winner Sindy With an S.
Trained by Todd Pletcher for Mathis Stable, My Miss Tapit has won half of her six starts and earned $132,255. The filly was consigned by Gainesway, her breeder, to the 2015 Keeneland September yearling sale where she was purchased by Pletcher for $550,000.
Randy Hartley, of Hartley/DeRenzo Thoroughbreds that partners with Breeze Easy's Mike Hall and Sam Ross, said My Miss Tapit would remain in training with Pletcher and then be added to the owners' broodmare band.
"(Mike Hall and Sam Ross) are looking for racehorses and she's a racehorse, and we're building a broodmare band also," Hartley said. "We've got 27 mares now and we are breeding to all the best we can get and trying to buy the best. They thought this filly was a beautiful filly and one of the top horses here offered for sale. She's going to stay in training and go back to Todd.
"(Sam Ross) wasn't even supposed to come to this sale. He drove up here yesterday, and he studies the catalog like crazy. He lives, eats, drinks, and sleeps it," Hartley continued. "They've bought several yearlings for over $1 million. They are buying nice mares that come here in November. They spend $3.5 million on stud fees every year now. They love the sales and visiting with people. We're just trying to put a good team of people together and hopefully we get a little lucky and keep getting luckier. They love the sport and it's something they can do together and have fun, and I want them to enjoy it."
