Second-crop sires Soldat  and Hidden Blessing were each represented by their first black-type winners over the July 14-15 weekend.

Woodford Thoroughbreds' Soldat, a grade 2-winning son of War Front , earned a check mark in the black-type winners column when Big Drink of Water won the Victoria Stakes at Woodbine by 2 3/4 lengths. The July 14 victory was Big Drink of Water's second out of three lifetime starts for owner Endeavor Bloodstock and trainer Teresa Connelly.

Bred in Florida by Woodford Thoroughbreds, the 2-year-old gelding is out of the winning Vindication daughter Vindi Princess. Big Drink of Water is the mare's first winner and first black-type winner.

Woodford Thoroughbreds has stood Soldat since he retired to stud in 2014. He stood this year for $5,000.

Texas-bred sophomore Brave Daisey became Hidden Blessing's first black-type winner when she captured the six-furlong Valor Farm Stakes by 4 1/2 lengths July 15 at Lone Star Park. The Peter Varga homebred has now won three times and placed once out of nine lifetime starts. The Valor Farm Stakes was her third start in black-type company.

Brave Daisey is also the first black-type winner produced by the winning Formal Gold daughter Brave Vixen, who has produced three other winners out of six to race.

Hidden Blessing, a winning son of Orientate, has stood the last two seasons at Blue Diamond Horseshoe in California. He stood for $1,500 this year.
