Description:

Stuart Slagle, currently racing secretary at Hastings Racecourse, has been named new Thoroughbred racing secretary at Woodbine Entertainment Group, effective Nov. 10.

Slagle, 47, worked in racing offices at Colonial Downs, Sunland Park, and the Maryland Jockey Club, and was racing secretary at Manor Downs, Arapahoe Park, and finally Hastings in 2013.

"We respect Stuart's experience in racing," said Steve Lym, WEG's Thoroughbred director of racing who has also held the Woodbine racing secretary position since 2003. "He brings a fresh perspective that will greatly benefit our racing program. He has experience with American racetracks, but a familiarity with Canadian racing and its intricacies as well."

"I've watched and admired Woodbine racing for many years," said Slagle, who was born in Ohio and raised in Texas. "I'm thrilled to be joining such a first-class organization like the Woodbine Entertainment Group."
