Bella Vincenza won the Added Elegance by 1 1/2 lengths
Bella Vincenza pulled away from six rivals to score a 1 1/2-length victory in the $75,000 Added Elegance Stakes at Gulfstream Park July 28 and become the first black-type winner for her sire, Biondetti .
The 4-year-old filly won her third straight race in going-away fashion in the seven-furlong sprint for fillies and mares while extending her streak of first- or second-place finishes to eight races.
"She definitely likes the distance, and she found a home at this distance on dirt. Sometimes it just takes a while to get to know them," trainer Kathleen O'Connell said. "This is a good example of horses that aren't going to be stars as 2-year-olds, because they need time to mature."
Owned by Pinnacle Racing Stable and Stein Racing, and bred in Florida by David Berman, Bella Vincenza finished in 1:22.99. She is out of the Dixie Union mare Cascina.
A 10-year-old son of Bernardini , Biondetti was a group 1 winner in Italy who came over to run fourth in the 2010 Grey Goose Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1). He is out of the top-producing Lyphard mare Lyphard's Delta and is a half brother to grade 1 winner Indy Five Hundred and multiple graded stakes winner Delta Princess, dam of multiple champion Royal Delta.
Biondetti stands at Woodford Thoroughbreds in Florida and commanded an advertised fee of $4,000 for 2018. He has 46 winners from three crops of racing age.
