Trainer Joan Petrowski won her 1,000th race Oct. 3, when she sent out Dynamo Run to victory in the first race at Northlands Park.
Later on the card, Petrowski earned victory 1,001 with Tiny Giant in the seventh race.
Her milestone win came with Dynamo Run, a 3-year-old Alberta-bred filly by Gold Legend who was ridden to victory by Nela Mohammed for Mickey Demers and Viking Stable. The longest shot in the field of five running for a claiming price of $7,000, Dynamo Run came from off the pace to score by 2 3/4 lengths and returned $31.20 for a $2 win ticket.
Petrowski, 71, is a two-time Canadian Derby (Can-III) winner with Footprint in 2007 and Toccetive in 2012. According to Equibase, she has recorded 1,081 seconds and 1,170 thirds in a career that includes 9,586 starts through Oct. 3, with total purse earnings of $9,397,993.
The leading trainer by purse earnings at Northlands Park in 2011 and 2012, she began training in 1977. She ranks fourth at Northlands this season with 31 victories from 321 starts and earnings of $442,958.
