Coolmore and partners were denied a sweep of the 2-year-old races at Longchamp Oct. 5 when Gleneagles lost the Qatar Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere (Grand Criterium, Fr-I) in the stewards' room.
In finishing first for the fifth consecutive time, Gleneagles came over and hampered rivals approaching the finish line before a half-length tally. After an inquiry, he was placed third while Full Mastand Territories were elevated to first and second, respectively.
Full Mast captured both of his previous starts under regular rider Thierry Thulliez, including the Prix La Rochette (Fr-III) over the course and distance Sept. 7. He is trained by Criquette Head-Maarek. With Sunday's win he qualified for a fees-paid, automatic berth in $1 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (gr. IT) Oct. 31 at Santa Anita Park via the Breeders' Cup Challenge "Win and You're In" series.
The final time in the 1,400-meter (about seven-furlong) race was 1:20.11 on good turf.
Full Mast, a Juddmonte Farms homebred, has a perfect record from three career starts. A Kentucky-bred son of Mizzen Mast, he is out of 1997 Flower Bowl Stakes (gr. I) winner Yashmak, by Danzig.
