High Jinx Makes All to Capture Prix Cadran

Description:
High Jinx broke through in his third attempt to win the Qatar Prix du Cadran (Fr-I) Oct. 5 at Longchamp, making all the pace and holding on to score by a neck in the stamina-sapping marathon.

Digging in for Ryan Moore as the finish line approached, the 6-year-old son of High Chaparral repelled the rallying Bathyrhon, with favorite Pale Mimosa three-quarters of a length back in third.

High Jinx covered 4,000 meters (about 2 1/2 miles) on good turf in 4:12.22.

Trained by James Fanshawe for Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Williams, High Jinx was second in the 2012 Cadran and fifth last year. Lightly raced throughout his five-season career, the gelding won his fourth race from 20 lifetime starts, including a listed stakes win at Maisons-Laffitte in July. Sunday's win was his first at the group level.

High Jinx was bred in France by Haras de la Perelle from the Surumu mare Leonara. He was exiting a third to Bathyrhon in the Qatar Prix Gladiateur (Fr-III) going 3,100 meters (about 1 15/16 miles) Sept. 14 at Longchamp.
