Lankan Rupee Named Australian Horse of Year

Lankan Rupee, the world's highest-rated sprinter, was recently named Australia's Horse of the Year for the 2013-14 season. 
 
The 5-year-old Redoute's Choice gelding won seven of eight starts during the season, including three group I wins in succession: the 2014 Oakleigh Plate, Newmarket Handicap, and T.J. Smith Stakes. Trained by Mick Price for Teeley Assets Syndicate, he also was named champion sprinter.
 
Teeley Assets bred Lankan Rupee from the Stravinksy mare Estelle Collection. 
 
The title marks the sixth time in past eight seasons that a sprinter has won the nation's Horse of the Year title. three of those titles were won by Black Caviar.
