One Bet From Even wins his third start in a maiden claiming race at Ellis Park

Doyle Williams' One Bet From Even won his third start to become the first winner for freshman sire Mark Valeski , taking a maiden claiming race July 29 at Ellis Park.

After finishing off the board in his first two starts, One Bet From Even set the pace early and broke away late under a drive to win the six-furlong test for 2-year-olds by 3 1/2 lengths.

The colt, bred in Kentucky by Labhras Draper and Breandan Draper, is the sixth winner out of the graded stakes-placed Real Quiet mare Whirlwind Charlott, who also produced stakes winner Show Some Magic from eight foals to race.

Mark Valeski, who stood at Airdrie Stud in 2018 for a fee of $2,500, won the 2012 Peter Pan Stakes (G2) and the 2013 Mineshaft Handicap (G3).

Bred and campaigned by Brereton C. Jones and trained by Larry Jones, the son of Proud Citizen made his way onto the Kentucky Derby (G1) trail in 2012 with runner-up finishes in the Risen Star Stakes (G2) and the Louisiana Derby (G2). However, Larry Jones made the decision to run the colt in the Peter Pan instead of the Derby after subpar workouts.

Retired with a record of 4-4-0 from 10 starts and earnings of $658,452, Mark Valeski initially stood at Woodford Thoroughbreds in 2015. He was transferred to Airdrie in 2017.
