Undefeated champion Shared Belief turned in a handy half-mile workout Oct. 7 at Golden Gate Fields as he prepares for his expected start in the $5 million Breeders' Cup Classic (gr. I) next month.
The Candy Ride gelding completed the drill on the all-weather track in :50 4/5, a time that ranked ninth of 13 moves at the distance. The workout was his first since capturing the Awesome Again Stakes (gr. I) by a neck Sept. 27 at Santa Anita Park.
Shared Belief, champion 2-year-old of 2013, went 3-for-3 as a juvenile and is 4-for-4 this year. Prior to the Awesome Again he captured the Pacific Classic (gr. I) in his first start against older runners Aug. 24 at Del Mar after winning the Los Alamitos Derby (gr. II) July 5. He is the ante-post favorite for the Classic, to be run Nov. 1 at Santa Anita.
Shared Belief is owned in partnership by Jungle Racing (Jim and Janet Rome), trainer Jerry Hollendorfer, KMN Racing (Kevin and Kim Nish), Jason Litt, George Todaro, and Alex Solis II. A winner of five stakes overall, he has earned $1,552,200 in his seven career starts.
