Description:

America’s Best Racing brand ambassador Jose Contreras – whose puts his picks out for the public regularly on his own blog www.losponies.com - will help DerbyJackpot players with his insight in a regular blog feature for ABR.
Each week, Jose will give out his “Best Bet” of the weekend, ideal for a “Monkey Bet” (a win bet) on DerbyJackpot, as well as his Lonshot Play of the weekend, a nice opportunity to swing for the fences on a Monkey Bet or to take a shot with “The Granny” (a show bet or top-three finish).
Jose also will lay out either a quick-hitting Granny Parlay or a Gonzo Bet. The Granny Parlay essentialy is a bet in which players will have an opportunity to place one Granny bet after another on a sequence of four or five races within an hour or so of each other, essentially letting it ride as they go "all in" search of a nice return on investment. The idea of the parlay is to steadily grow your bankroll until you have a sizeable stash of cash to let it ride on the final leg for a nice payout. The Gonzo Bet requires players to select the first two finishers in a given race in order, the same as a traditional exacta bet.
Place your bets at DerbyJackpot. Races open for betting about five minutes before post time. It’s fun, it’s easy, and you can win cash. Open your account today.

Best Bet (Monkey Bet/Win Bet):
Race 4,  Saturday at Saratoga (2:31 p.m. ET)
#2 Can’t Catch Kate: she ran a very good second in her debut back in January and then followed that with a dull sixth when going off as the betting favorite in March. She has been given a break since then and now comes into this race fresh and ready to go. Trainer and jockey are winning at a 32% clip when they team up.
Longshot Play (Granny Bet/Show Bet):
Race 9, Saturday at Del Mar (6:10 p.m. PT)
#11 Wild in the Saddle: she finished third last time out in a similar spot at odds of 46-1. Today’s group looks tougher but her closing style should fit this race well. I also like her outside post position which should allow her jockey to evaluate how the race unfolds once the gates open. If the speed stops on the lead, watch for this filly to pick up some ground late in the race.
Gonzo Bet (Exacta Box):
Race 2, Sunday at Del Mar (2:37 p.m. PT)
#2 Horizon Sky: today is the first time that he goes up for a claiming price and any of his six U.S. starts make him a top contender in this race. He has tried today’s distance twice, finishing third and fourth, and his most recent start was on this track.
#4 Meringue Pie: his early speed makes him dangerous against this field. Trainer Bill Spawr claimed him in his last start and he is winning at a 26% clip with that move. If he can avoid running into a speed duel with Avare, he might be long gone at the top of the stretch.
#8 One Firm Cat: he faces easier competition today after finishing eighth against stakes competition on opening day of the Del Mar meet. His likes to close ground late and should get a good trip from the outside post. Leading jockey picks up the mount once again and he previously rode him to a second-place finish two races ago.
