Ackeret became the first winner for freshman sire Mach Ride when he rallied from fifth to score a three-length victory in his career debut in a 6 1/2-furlong maiden claiming race Thursday, Oct. 9, at Belmont Park .
Ackeret is just the second starter for Mach Ride, who stood the 2014 season for $2,000 at Bridlewood Farm in Ocala, Fla. Mach Ride, an 11-year-old son of Pentelicus, won six stakes races including the 2007 Smile Sprint Handicap (gr. II) at Calder Race Course.
Mach Ride has nine current 2-year-olds in his first crop. Bred in Florida by Rustlewood Farm, Ackeret is the first starter for the winning Touch Gold mare Lady Zieg.
Ackeret is owned by David Wilkenfield's Pick Six Racing and Silverstreak Stables. He is trained by Rudy Rodriguez and was guided to victory Thursday by jockey Luis Saez.
