The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board Aug. 15 awarded the owner of Parx Racing and casino a license to conduct online gambling in the Keystone State.
Greenwood Gaming and Entertainment, which owns the Parx Racing track and casino, was one of three entities awarded interactive gaming licenses Wednesday; along with Mount Airy Resort Casino and Chester Downs and Marina, operator of Harrah's Casino Philadelphia.
Under the license, Parx, as well as the other two outlets, will be able to conduct online versions of slot machines, table games, and poker. Pennsylvania's new gambling laws allow casinos to partner with multiple online operators and vice versa; operators can partner with multiple casinos.
The three outlets were among nine that applied for interactive licenses at the end of July. The other six license applicants, together with any late applicants, will be considered at the PGCB's meetings in September and October.
Also Wednesday, the PGCB reported that Churchill Downs Inc.-owned Presque Isle Downs has applied for an interactive license that would be limited to online slots and table games.
