America’s Best Racing and DerbyJackpot team up to provide horseplayers with their best bets of the weekend in a regular feature blog that will run on Fridays.
Each week, one of our crack handicappers - Jose Contreras, Dan Tordjman, Victoria Garofalo or Cory Moelis – will provide at least one “Best Bet” of the weekend, ideal for a win bet.
The post also will include some combination of additional bets for the weekend.
For some posts, our handicappers will try to identify a longshot play of the weekend, a nice opportunity to swing for the fences on a win bet or to take a shot with a show bet.
Our handicappers also will look for strong exacta plays for the weekend or occasionally try to spot a nice opportunity to bet a trifecta or superfecta.
Place your bets at DerbyJackpot. It's the easiest and most fun online horse betting site out there. Races open for betting about five minutes before post time. Place your bets and you can walk away with some extra cash in your pocket.

This Weekend’s Bets
Saturday
Best Bet (Win Bet/ Monkey Bet)
Keeneland, Race 1, 1:05 ET
#2 Grand Coulee: He is making a switch back to the dirt and takes a little bit of a class drop. I like that his form has been steady over his last five starts, and that’s something that most of his opponents have not done this year. The primary angle that I like about him is that he’s been training on this new Keeneland dirt main track since late August. None of his rivals has a published workout over this surface, and I think that will prove to his advantage. His odds are 8-1 on the morning line.
Exacta Box (Gonzo Bet)
Keeneland, Race 9, 5:13 ET
#2 Minorette: She was not able to make up any ground late in her last effort when finishing last in a field of four, but I expect her to be more forwardly placed this time. Her trainer does well when giving horses this kind of break between races. The jockey that won aboard her returns for this race.
#5 Personal Diary: She posted a terrific effort in winning the Del Mar Oaks in her most recent start, and she looks to be coming into this race in the best form of her career. She likes to close from the back of the pack, so she will prefer a fast early pace to set up her late kick.
#6 Ball Dancing: She looked good winning her United States debut at Belmont about a month ago. She’s lightly raced, has proven talent, and her trainer is having a solid year with his turf runners.
Sunday
Best Bet (Win Bet/ Monkey Bet)
Santa Anita, Race 5, 6 p.m. ET
#7 Sweet Pizazz: There are a few things that I like about her. She’s switching to a new barn and adding blinkers for the first time. She has four workouts on this track and some of them suggest she might show more early speed this time around. Even though her only win on a dirt track was under muddy conditions, I think she will run well on a fast dirt track.
Exacta Box (Gonzo Bet)
Santa Anita, Race 8, 7:30 p.m. ET
#1 Husband’s Folly: He has been consistent all year and has finished in the top two in five of his last six starts, all against similar competition. He won at this distance in early May and now picks up the leading jockey.
#3 Ice Cream Truck: He was way overmatched when facing Shared Belief in the Pacific Classic Stakes. He’s been competitive in his two tries on the turf and arrives in this race with a series of stamina-building workouts.
#4 Play Hard to Get: He broke his maiden impressively at Del Mar when pulling away to a six-length win. Although I believe he benefited from a fast early pace, I think he is improving at the right time. His jockey is a very good turf rider.
