French champion jockey Olivier Peslier will not renew his contract as rider of first call for prominent French owners/breeders Alain and Gerard Wertheimer, concluding a 12-year relationship at the end of 2014.
For the brothers, Peslier guided U.S. and European champion
Goldikova in all 27 of her starts, winning 14 races at the top level including three consecutive editions of the Breeders' Cup Mile (gr. IT) (2008, 2009, and 2010). He also rode
Solemia to her stunning victory over
Orfevre in the 2012 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (Fr-I) and
Intello to a win in the 2013 Prix du Jockey Club (Fr-I, French Derby).
"We have decided to end the collaboration with Olivier after 12 years, but it is ending on very good terms, which is very important," racing manager Pierre-Yves Bureau told England's Press Association.
"It is the end of the cycle. Twelve years is a very long time and we all have great memories of horses like Goldikova, the Arc victory of Solemia, and Intello's fantastic season last year. We have had many good moments and it has been a great collaboration."
A replacement for Peslier has not been named.
