Gulfstream Park issued an apology to customers Oct. 10 after confusion over access to its Gulfstream Park West signal created problems at simulcast outlets on the first two days of that meeting Oct. 8-9.
Gulfstream officials said they are confident the problem is resolved for the "Fall Turf Festival" meet being conducted at the former Calder Race Course.
"We want to sincerely apologize to our bettors for any inconvenience this has caused," Gulfstream said in its statement. "Gulfstream Park prides itself on customer service and doing all we can for our bettors and guests. We are extremely disappointed and frustrated that this issue occurred during the opening days of our Fall Turf Festival. This has been especially frustrating because our racing office has worked hard in giving the public great field sizes and competitive races.
"We hate letting our fans down. They are the economic engine of this sport."
Confusion existed at some outlets because the simulcast code changed during the day, offering two codes for each race day. In the release, Gulfstream officials noted that the takeout rates for the meet are the same as those at Gulfstream Park.
"Once again, we want to sincerely apologize for any inconvenience," the track release said. "We will learn from this experience, improve our customer service every day, and our racing office will continue to offer full fields and competitive races. We hope you enjoy the next seven weeks of racing at Gulfstream Park West."
