Gold Square's Little Miss Raelyn led all the way in a Laurel Park waiver maiden claiming event to win on debut Aug. 19, and in doing so the 2-year-old filly became the first winner for Country Life Farm's freshman sire Super Ninety Nine .
After setting a pressured pace, Little Miss Raelyn drew off to win by 3 1/2 lengths when asked by jockey Jorge Vargas Jr. She had previously turned in quick workouts for trainer Jeremiah Englehart at both Saratoga Race Course and Belmont Park.
Bred in Maryland by Kenneth Lowe Jr., Little Miss Raelyn is out of the Louis Quatorze mare Helen Louise.
Super Ninety Nine, trained by Bob Baffert for Tanma Corporation, showed promise when he broke his maiden on debut and then placed second in the Hollywood Prevue Stakes (G3) as a 2-year-old. After starting his sophomore year with a score in an allowance optional-claiming, he followed the effort with a 11 1/4-length romp in the Southwest Stakes (G3). With a step up in class he placed fifth in the Rebel Stakes (G2) and third in the Santa Anita Derby (G1).
He was retired with a record of 3-1-1 from eight starts and earnings of $378,260.
The son of Pulpit is out of unraced Unbridled's Song mare Exogenetic, a full sister to the ill-fated grade 1 winner Exogenous who had earned $945,560.
Super Ninety Nine stood in 2018 at the Maryland farm for a fee of $3,000.
