Wait No More, a sleek gray 3-year-old daughter of champion Wait a While, graduated handily in a maiden special weight by 2 1/4 lengths Oct. 10 on the turf at Gulfstream Park West, the former Calder Race Course .

Favored at 7-5 in the field of 10 fillies and mares going 7 1/2 furlongs in the sixth race Friday, the Arindel Farm homebred put away past pacesetter Tatica for Ever in the stretch, kicking clear in the final sixteenth under a vigorous ride by Edgard Zayas.

"She broke out of the gate well but I needed to ask her to get close to the pace. She's still a little green," Zayas said. "She's a filly who's going to get better and better."

Wait No More, sired by Medaglia d'Oro  , was making her second lifetime start following a third-place finish at Gulfstream Park (east) Sept. 12, when she broke slowly from the rail while going five furlongs on turf.

That was not the case this time as the leggy filly tracked the pacesetter from second until challenging at the three-eighths pole and eventually drawing away. She paid $4.80 to win.

"In the stretch, she was a little slow changing leads, but once I got her to change leads, she picked it up and kept on going," Zayas said. "I think with this filly, the longer, the better. She's going to be a nice filly."

Trained by Marty Wolfson, Wait No More was timed in 1:31.21 over firm going. Tatica for Ever held second under Jose Valdivia Jr., a half-length ahead of Lady Anita and jockey Carlos Marquez Jr.

Alan and Karen Cohen's Arindel Farm campaigned Wait No More's dam as well. Wait a While was a 10-time graded stakes winner including three grade I wins on turf, with more than $2.1 million in earnings. She captured an Eclipse Award in 2006 as North America's champion 3-year-old filly.

Wait No More is the second foal to race produced by Wait a While, and her second winner following 4-year-old Zaikov, who is yet to race in 2014 for trainer Todd Pletcher. Wait a While has two other foals, a yearling colt by Smart Strike   named Partiro, and a weanling named Wait by Distorted Humor  . Wait a While was bred back to Distorted Humor earlier this year.

Wait No More was the sale topper at the 2012 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga select yearling sale when purchased for $1,575,000 by Pletcher, agent, from consignor Three Chimney Sales. The filly was originally in Pletcher's care but did not start for him.
