Accelerate is the favorite in the first future wager pool for this year's Breeders' Cup Classic
Hronis Racing's Accelerate closed as the 3-1 favorite in the Breeders' Cup Classic Future Wager #1, and Monomoy Stables, The Elkstone Group, and Bethlehem Stables' 3-year-old filly Monomoy Girl closed as the 3-1 favorite in the Longines Breeders' Cup Distaff Future Wager Aug. 26.
Both the Classic and Distaff Future Wager pools, which opened Friday, Aug. 24, consisted of 23 unique wagering interests and one "all others" wager for a total of 24 betting interests. "All others" includes all Thoroughbreds other than the pool's individual horses.
The second Breeders' Cup Future Wager pools on the Sentient Jet Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1) and the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Sire will open Friday, Aug. 31 and close Sept. 2 and also will consist of 23 unique wagering interests and one "all others" wager for a total of 24 betting interests.
Accelerate, a winner of three grade 1 races this year, would return $8.20 on the Breeders' Cup Classic Future Wager should he win the Classic Nov. 3 at Churchill Downs. Accelerate opened at 4-1 in the Classic Future Wager Friday.
The weekend's pools drew a combined $104,403, with $86,670 wagered on the Classic future and $17,733 bet on the Distaff future.

The third and final Future Wager pools, scheduled to open Oct. 5 and close on Oct. 7, will consist of the Breeders' Cup Classic Future Wager #2 and the Longines Breeders' Cup Turf (G1T).
Betting on all Breeders' Cup Future Wagers will be offered at Churchill Downs tracks, via Twinspires.com and other advanced deposit wagering ("ADW") sites, racetracks, casinos, simulcast centers, and off-track betting sites.
