Almodovar Reaches Career Milestone Win at Timonium

Gerald Almodovar joins the winning connections in the Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races winner's circle after guiding Roman Officer to victory in the 2017 West Virginia Legislature Chairman's Cup Stakes

Veteran jockey Gerald Almodovar secured the 2,000th victory of his career when he guided No Refunds to victory in the seventh race Aug. 24 at Timonium.

A regular rider at Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races, where he finished atop the jockey standings in 2005, some of Almodovar's top mounts have included multiple stakes winners Trust Or Bust, who he guided to victory in the $250,000 Charles Town Invitational Dash Handicap in 2009; Roman Officer, Hear the Chatter, Jax and Jill, and Missacity Luke.

Riding since 2004, Almodovar, 33, born in Caguas, Puerto Rico, has posted a record of 2,000-1,633-1,449 from 10,869 starts and purse earnings of $33,562,204. He has ranked in the top 100 by seasonal wins nine times and the top 100 by seasonal earnings four times.
